Assigning the order...
Probably the most important communication between the lender and APR
is the Repossession Order. It needs to communicate accurate information on the
debtor and description of collateral. Given addresses, places of employment and
detailed directions to locations and information on details and demeanor of
debtor are usually helpful. Information that the debtor has been threatened
with repossession is particularly helpful. Agreements for voluntary
repossessions can often do little more than warn a debtor that repossession is
contemplated by lender and understood as a “hide the unit” warning.
What to expect the first 48 hours!
Our professional agents have the ability to verify and drive by the given
addresses, and possibly recover the collateral the initial trip. They log the
times of day addresses are run to increase the opportunities to spot the
desired unit at different times of day. Our organized agents can run numerous
accounts 1-2 times per day and provide the lenders with updates of what they
are seeing in the field. If our agent fails to recover the unit within the
first 48 hours on the case, he will be able to give a full description of the
debtors home address and employment, report whether the unit has been spotted
or what vehicles are at the home address, and coordinate a plan of attack to
recover the unit. APR agents are well aware that debtors will
go the extra mile to hide the unit when they know it is out for repossession.
Updates from APR agents
Depending on the grade of the debtor, some accounts can be difficult to
recover. With APR's advanced technology, agents can update the
lender with current daily progress in a variety of ways, telephone, fax, and of
course, e-mail. True communication between APR and the
lender should be a 2 way communication. If an APR agent
reports a debtor has moved, leaving no forwarding address, the lender should
either authorize a APR to skip trace the debtor, or the lender
should provide a new home address for debtor. The lender knows that an agent
cannot be expected to continue to work an account with no “current” good
address. It would also hamper the agent at this point without a skip trace or
putting the account on HOLD and providing the agent with a “current “ address.
There should be clear, open communication between the lender and APR
.
The update that APR and the lender are looking for is the
recovery. That update should include date, time and address of the recovery, a
report of any contact with the debtor and what transpired, the present location
of the unit, and the general condition of the unit. Many debtors “invent”
situations. Most can be quelled by a comparison and exchange of
“contemporaneous” communication. Without this, some stories take on a life of
their own.
Additional Reporting
APR agents are trained and have the ability to produce
accurate condition reports reflecting all damages if any on the repossessed
unit. This is particularly important in the lenders “ballpark” assessment of
value. APR's reports are detailed showing line art photos, and
digital photos if requested by the lender. The condition report points out
dents, scrapes, accident damage, etc. If personal property is involved an exact
inventory is given and attested to. Storage of the collateral is in a secured,
insured gated facility. APR is the “absolute” answer to the
lenders problem accounts!
